Dog Crate Beds

Dog crate beds come in different sizes, shapes and make. Based on the size of the crate, you get a slightly smaller bed so it will fit well. Many dogs spend a long time there, so it is best to make them comfortable. Kate, my daughter’s Morkie is a lot of fun. In the mornings when she sees her human parents getting dressed for work, she tries to hide, but gets caught. She sleeps in the crate bed till noon, and then she has 1 hour with her dad and back into the crate she goes, until one parent or the other comes home. I thought she dreaded going in there, so I was given the opportunity to keep her at my place. All week she was free, and would lie very close to me. She moves when I move or else she is asleep on the couch. Saturday morning came and I showered and got ready for church and came down with my bible and handbag. As soon as Kate saw me all dressed up, she quietly went into the powder room where her crate was. I thought it was so cute, watching her back into the crate. I always hated putting her in there, but she is comfortable in there and feels safe, until one of us gets her out. She is ready to go out when we pick her, so we get her leash and go out the door for a little work for her to do her business.

Pet Control

We all love our pets and do not wish to see them on the street. So why would we not want to take precautions so that their babies are not on the street or abandoned. We need to be responsible pet owners and have our pets spayed or neutered. PETA says that a cat can have up to 4200 kittens in 7 years. That would happen if she was pregnant most of the time. However, there are 4 million dogs and cats that are homeless and have to be taken care of by the humane society. Animal shelters wish that we would adopt the pets that are with them, to give them good homes. The reason there are so many homeless dogs and cats is because pet owners do not practice good pet birth control. And when these pets mate with other breeds and there are mixed babies, many times they are unable to sell or give away these puppies or kittens and sometimes are left to fend for themselves.

When you buy your pet from the pet store or some breeders, you may be buying them from puppy mills. However, as a responsible pet owner, if you adopt from the Animal Shelters and make sure you spay or neuter them, you will reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens. Most people want to adopt a cute puppy and not an adult dog. The older the dog, the harder it is to get them adopted. Just as humans want to adopt infants rather than older children. Many of the animals that are not adopted may have to be euthanized, because there is no one to care for them.

Making sure that your pet is well taken care of and loved, means practicing pet birth control. How many of you have seen a puppy or a kitten that did not seem to have a home. Sometimes they adopt you if you feed them, but if not they wander around till the animal shelter picks them up. They are cared for, but need to be adopted. We cannot expect others to take care of the puppies and kittens born because we did not spay or neuter our pets. So be a responsible pet owner and practice pet birth control.

Senior Citizens as Pet Sitters

Dogs are great companions for all age groups. There are dog owners who are looking for someone to pet sit for them while they are on vacation. Some people leave their dogs in a kennel, or even in luxurious pet motels that have spa quality treatments. However, some dog owners would prefer their dogs to be cared for at their homes where their pets are in familiar surroundings.

Many young people are employed as dog walkers and dog sitters. But a Senior Citizen, who is looking to subsidize their Social Security income, will find this as a great job. Not only will they get paid to go feed and play with a dog, they will receive the benefits of having the love of a dog, or many dogs. Dogs bring many health benefits for a Senior Citizen.

A Senior Citizen may be alone and in need of company. Having a dog is great because he will love you unconditionally, will not talk back or argue with you. And most of all, he is faithful. If however, owning a dog is not possible, the next best thing is to pet sit for others. This job comes with great benefits. Dogs are taught to pick up things that are out of your reach. There are dogs who can tell when the sugar level of a diabetic is too low, and they alert them to the fact. Guide dogs are a great asset to the blind. You can even train puppies who will become Guide dogs, and that will bring you a feeling of great accomplishment. It may be hard to give your dog away after loving him and training him, but you will feel good to know that he is helping someone else. All in all this is a win-win situation for both the dogs and the Senior Citizens.

There was a story about a dog who won a diamond dog collar, but the owner said that the would not be able to wear it in New York.  The speculation may be that she is afraid of losing it or that it is too big.  I just read a blog where this pet store owner placed a $3000 collar on her dog for a photo shoot and then the dog disappeared and returned wet but without the $3000 dog collar.  Some pet owners are willing to pay large amounts of money (that is why stores carry these products) for jeweled dog collars for their beloved pets.  These collars are just for show, just as an expensive necklace is placed in the safe deposit when not used, or fake ones are made to look just like the real ones, so the expensive jewels will not be stolen.

Why do we crave for uniqueness? I guess it just shows our diversity and taste for new and different things.  A dog collar can be used for different reasons and uses.

“Its either me or the dog”

I was watching the program”its either me or the dog” or something like that and was quite interested in the trainers methods. The little dog had completely taken over the wife’s life. She slept on the bed with them and wanted to go out in the middle of the night and went crazy when the mail came. She would attack anybody she came across on her walks. The trainer was very calm and good with her methods. She told them that the dog was not getting enough exercise and needed to play outside more, and go for more walks.

When the owner took her dog for a walk, the trainer told her to hold the leash on the dog collar and when they met someone on the road, she was to turn around and lead her with the leash on the dog collar and walk the other way. After a while, when she had walked a while, she was very calm when she met a person on the walk.

The family spent more time playing with their dog. One night, the wife had to leave and the husband was told to put the dog in her dog bed by the main bed. So at night, when the dog got on to the bed, he put her back in her bed, and did not pay attention to her when she wanted out in the middle of the night. After putting her back a couple of times, the she stayed in her dog bed for the rest of the night.

She was quite a pretty white dog and enjoyed her walks, and stayed on her leash and dog collar without charging at people on the walk. She became calmer and actually slept through the night. By the end of the training session, the dog was totally different. She was calmer because of the exercise she was getting during the day. The trainer mixed exercise with hand and short verbal commands, and it was quite an amazing transformation. So, there is no excuse for a dog to take over the owners’ lives. The owners must take over the dog’s life and treat him well and reward him for good behavior and change the negative behavior. A good dog collar and dog leash is an important part of training your dog.

Dog collars come in many colors, width,  and with jewels on it.  Jeweled dog collars can be leather dog collars with jewels on it, or it can be like a necklace or a collar with a jeweled pendant.  What is the purpose of jeweled dog collars? It is not for training, or to be attached to a leash.  Jeweled dog collars serve one purpose and that is style and looks.  Wealthy dog owners/lovers want their pooches to look beautiful and money is no object.  Some pooches wear real diamond and gold collars that can be worth a lot of money.  But for  those who are concerned with price, but still want their pooches to look as good as their luckier counterpart, can get jeweled dog collars made of rhinestone or swarowski gemstones.  The jeweled dog collars, whether they are pricey or just look good serve the same purpose as jewelry worn by humans.  In fact, dog owners and their dogs can have matching jewelry and designer clothes.  So we could say that these lucky dogs are designer pooches.
