Fancy Dog Beds

As pet owners we look for fancy dog beds because they are so cute, and look so pretty, and it matches all your furniture. We think that maybe that round bed with metal ornamental frame looks so good. Do our pets really care what the bed looks like? I am sure that to some extent our pets do have good taste and like pretty things. Remember, they love to be in your bed. Now if your bed was not so comfortable, and does not look so good, would you like to sleep in it? Just as we look for certain features when we choose our own bedroom furniture. Here are some tips in choosing a bed for your pooch:

* Looks are important

* The fabric must be soft, the color depends on your decor

* Odor absorbent crystals in the pet is important

* Thickness of the mattress pad indicates how comfortable it will be

* Memory foam mattress would make it more comfortable, especially for heavier and older dogs

* Thermal mattresses offer warmth to arthritic dogs

* Cooling dog beds are a great comfort in the heat

* Make sure that the cover of the mattress is removable so it can be washed and sanitized, or else it will stink after a while

* If your dog sleeps outdoors, an elevated dog bed may be a better choice so that it won’t be so hard on the ground, and will not pick up dirt

* Some dogs have an attraction to silk and satin like my Kate. She begins to scratch and get ready to sleep when she sees satin, especially under the Christmas tree

* It is alright to find a fancy or designer dog beds, as long as they are comfortable too

Just as we like to lay our heads on a soft pillow, dogs like pillows and even blankets to cover. When I was growing up, we had a big white dog who slept on the floor. But as soon as we left the house, he would jump onto the bed, put his head on the pillow and cover himself. Then when we get home, and he hears us opening the door, he will get on the floor and sleep as if he was there all along. One day we spied on him and discovered his secret. In India the dogs were expected to sleep on the floor. Now I know better. So be kind to your four-legged friends and give them a comfortable and pretty bed for themselves so they won’t have to sneak into your bed for comfort.

Designer dog beds

I was reading another blog and they posed the question: Since when did dogs and cats become choosy about designer items.  He said, why would dogs need an expensive designer dog bed, when they would just tear it up anyway.  I wondered what type of dog he had that would tear up his bed?  Then again, my sister said that their dogs chewed through the beds they bought.  I realize there are dogs who will chew on anything they can get a hold of, unless they are trained earlier not to do so.  Our Kate is a small dog.  She loves satin and silk.  Yesterday, she was sitting on my sofa, but when I put my silk pillow down, she promptly got on top of it.  Dogs can be picky about having a designer dog bed.  They do have a sense of what is pretty, soft and has quality.  Of course, very often pets take over their owner’s beds, and push them off.  In that case they would not need a designer dog bed.  But if the dog is trained to sleep in his own bed, then a fancy dog bed is always welcome.  Smaller dogs like the softer fabric and don’t need their beds to be very thick.  The larger dogs may do quite well with a fleece or terry material, but a thicker bed, like a memory foam dog bed would be appropriate for them.  But most of all, it is not the dog that cares about the designer tags, but the owners who want nothing but the best for their best friend.

Doggie birthday party

Last August Kate turned 2, and she was with me for her birthday. I thought it would be fun to have a little party for her. I decided to invite one little girl who was fond of Kate. It just so happened that it was prayer meeting night, and when I invited one person the others heard and so I ended up having every one over for cake. I made two party hats, one for Kate and one for her little friend. Her mom and dad had bought a very pretty designer dog apparel for her, but it stayed with them, so she did not get to wear her birthday designer dog clothes that day. However, it was fun all around. We even sang happy birthday by bow wowing the music to her. She was all excited because she loves company, and did not know who she liked best, so she was greeting everyone. At the end of the evening she was one pooped out pup. When she is ready for bed, she chooses a soft luxury dog bed covered in silk and starts fluffing it up and scratching on it to make her fancy dog bed ready for her to sleep in.
